The company believes this new vehicle buying experience will provide customers an easier process all from home before they go to their nearest CarMax to pick up their car.
CarMax believes that as the market moves more and more towards online commerce that car shopping can be made into something simpler and easier. They plan on scaling up this new offering throughout the United States and believe this offering will be available to all of their customers by the beginning of 2020.
“This is the future of car buying,” said Bill Nash, CarMax President, and CEO. “We’re delivering on an unmet customer need for a car buying experience that is flexible, convenient, and completely tailored to each customer. This experience has been well-received by our customers who are excited about buying a car on their own terms.”
Currently, this new shopping experience will be available in Hartford, Connecticut, Boston, Massachusetts, Portland, Maine, and Providence, Rhode Island.
Locations of CarMax are also adding home vehicle delivery and pickups which was already available in Georgia, Iowa, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and some cities in Virginia and Mississippi.
Different cities will have different options for consumers, but the new services include a complete car buying process available at home including financing and paperwork, vehicle home delivery, online and in-store shopping combined together for a complete process, and CarMax employee support through text, email, phone, or in-person for financing or other issues.
The company started more than 25 years ago by focusing on offering a better car purchasing experience for consumers who were stressed by the traditional car-buying experience. Currently, CarMax operates across the nation, boasts an inventory of over 50,000 cars, a 7-day return policy, and limited warranties.
