The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT) recently launched an overhauled Automotive Supplier Finder, its digital platform that puts consumers together with auto suppliers.
The platform is the largest database of its kind, with close to 10,000 companies currently listed. Listing is free for all automotive firms operating in the UK and now features Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) capabilities.
An advanced filtering function mentions users can search for results configured to their exact requirements. ASF also has the ability to search for companies operating in the connected, autonomous and electrified sectors. The platform boasts an extensive automotive ecosystem, including Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, original equipment manufacturers, raw materials producers, legal experts, software providers, recruitment companies and logistics firms.
“Growing the UK automotive supply chain is a key aim of SMMT, especially at a time when Brexit and the shift to connected and autonomous vehicles are significant challenges to the sector,” said Mike Hawes, Chief Executive at the SMMT.
“The new and improved ASF is an invaluable resource, helping to boost new business opportunities and encouraging collaboration within the industry.”
The service is free to use, and open to all relevant companies worldwide.
The announcement comes as the SMMT hosts its regional forum in Luton to assess current automotive challenges and opportunities for sectoral growth in the area. More than 200 SMMT members and delegates are expected to attend the event, with representatives from brands including Eurotunnel, IBM, Toyota Motor Europe, Vauxhall Motors LTD and Volkswagen Group UK.
