HelloWork, which publishes the RegionsJob, ParisJob, Cadreo, and BDM job platforms, reveals the results of its annual job search and recruitment survey in 2019. 3,161 workers and 519 recruiters answered questions on good practices, difficulties, tools used, habits, innovative uses, and more.

Here is the second part of the HelloWork results which grant a better understanding of recruitment practices, but also what makes their connection a success or a failure:

  • 81% of candidates use their mobile phone during the job search and almost 2/3 have access to their CV from their smartphone
  • 2/3 of recruiters use or intend to use “increased offers” (enriched content, photos, videos, etc.)
  • More than one in two candidates (54%) spend more time on a job offer when it includes photos or videos of the recruiting company
  • 1 in 2 is even more inclined to apply if the offer is "increased"
  • 46% of candidates say they are uncompromising on the distance from home/work

Mobile is the obvious choice

More and more applicants are using their smartphones during their job search. They are now 81% (+5 points compared to 2018). 61% of respondents access their CV from their mobile phone.

The enriched offers become a differentiating element

Beyond essential information (position, salary, etc.), job offers are now enriched with content, photos, videos, and so on which give the candidate a first glimpse of the working environment within companies that are recruiting. Today, 2/3 of recruiters use the possibilities of these increased offers or intend to do so. If sweetened advertisements are not always sufficient in and of itself to convince candidates, it remains a serious argument: more than one in two (54%) spend more time on a job offer when it includes photos or videos of the recruiting company.

How does the candidate choose the offers to which he applies?

Job vacancy websites remain by far the tools most used by recruiters (85%) as well as by candidates (96%). It's hard to find the perfect offer: sometimes you have to make concessions when you apply. Remuneration is debated: 32% of candidates declare themselves flexible on this subject, while 45% are not at all. Among the criteria on which candidates are the most flexible are the job title (36%) and the advantages offered (31%). Conversely, the distance between work and home is a major determining factor.
