INTERVIEW: Lorenzo Abati, Chief Executive Officer at REALI

The 27th Property Portal Watch Conference was held in Madrid this past November; it was our largest event thus far, with 400+ C-Level leaders attending from 40 different countries around the world, among them, Lorenzo Abati, CEO at REALI . Real Estate Advisors List Italia, who was kind enough to sit down for an interview with us.

Launched in 2010 and based in Rome, REALI's core business is C.R.M. (Customer Relationship Management), focusing on improving and stimulating relationships between agents and customers. "We assist agencies in acquiring more properties," Abati explained, "With our service, when an agent phones a customer, they can view the entire history of the agent's sales on their PC. In Italy, when you have a good property and a good price, you don't need portals. At the moment no one else is taking this approach", he added.

Addressing new methods or processes his company is gearing toward, Abati says that REALI's goal is to significantly increase interaction via mobile so that most of the work can be executed on the move.

We asked Abati what he saw as the biggest disruptor in his region, "I believe that Spotahome is the most disruptive, I foresee that in the future they will be able to fully automate long-term rentals", he stated. "However, the possible arrival of giants like Google and Facebook to the scene may be a pressing issue in the property portal world".

When asked about the experience he has gained over the past decade, since the launch of his company, and what one thing he would have done differently, Abati reflected, "I dedicated too many resources to the image and visibility of the company, rather than to the substance of the services I provide, so I attracted many customers but they were not necessarily concrete". 

Abati is a Property Portal Watch Conference alumn with several events under his belt; the first time our paths crossed was in Lisbon. We asked him what draws him back to the Conference to which he replied that being able to connect with so many interesting people under the same roof, and in such few days is priceless.
