Carlos Slim has found Spain as a place to continue investing.

This time with Metrovacesa, acquiring 3% of the company, valued at 44 million euros.

Slim had already entered the real estate business seriously, as he did with the acquisition of Realia 5 years ago. Two months ago he acquired 3% of the Quabit company, as well.

Through his investment company Carso, Slim directly acquired a package of 4.62 million shares of the company, representing 3,046% of its capital, as recorded in the records of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

The top shareholders of Metrovacesa are the Santander and BBVA financial groups, which control 49.3% and 20.8% of capital, respectively

Thus, the Mexican tycoon reinforces his commitment to the construction and sale of Spain's housing sector, because it controls the construction giant FCC as well, a group that also has a real estate sector.

Last September, Slim invested in the Prisa group, which is published by the newspaper El País, expanding its participation from 2.82% to 4.35%.
