These funds come during a Series B round which reached $462 million and values Pony.ai at around $3 billion.
This investment also represents a deepening relationship between the two companies who formed a partnership last year when both companies announced they would be testing self-driving cars on roads within China.
Pony.ai believes these deeper ties will help it integrate its autonomous systems into Toyota's auto platforms.
The recent investment also follows news from Toyota that it may soon allow its GRMN brand into the North American market. Currently, the company has its TRD brand as a replacement, however, the company might soon change its mind soon.
Toyota recently filed a trademark for the GRMN brand and its logo within the United States under the "automobiles and parts thereof" category.
The GRMN stands for Gazoo Racing Tuned by Meisters of Nurburgring and is named after the famous German racing track where drivers and companies test out their nerves and new vehicles.
Vehicles created under this brand are often viewed as high-performance cars from Toyota and bringing it into the North American market could be pivital.
The one model that would likely see attention would be Toyota's Supra since it's one of the brand's most beloved vehicles especially by enthusiasts.
