These new features are apart of an effort to help dealers combat the growing restrictions consumers are facing. Trends already indicated that most customers were spending time online researching and shopping for cars. Adding new features for dealers to utilize and take advantage of these trends could improve the overall shopping experience.
Autotrader isn't alone either.
Carwow recently implemented its own set of no contact auto purchasing services which includes entirely online shopping and home deliveries. What Car? is offering dealers a free three month trial on its New Car Buying platform to boost sales during the pandemic. The online used car marketplace Droom launched its Corona Shield service to treat and protect vehicles against microbials including COVID-19. Even Waymo, Google's self-driving company, has suspended its ride-hailing service but will keep its driverless autonomous cars up and running.
