5 Dream Houses: New Zealand

Continuing with our Dream Houses series, we're headed to the middle of the pacific, to where mountains meet islands and Peter Jackson’s rendition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was brought to life. Unfortunately, we don’t have any Hobbit holes to show you (though you can take a virtual movie set tour), we did, however, find a number of incredibly breathtaking homes in the beautiful country of New Zealand.

Our first stop is this modern beauty. Designed by the architect, Julian Guthrie, this wood slated and block home is situated in a beautiful suburban area. The home has the best of both worlds—a clean, modern look that's accentuated by large windows that open up to a lush outdoor area.

Another modern beauty. This Closeburnian home is nestled between Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Range, Cecil and Walter Peaks and Mount Nicholas.

Rural Dream House: New Zealand

Situated on the Acacia Bay, this traditional home sits within a conservation reserve. The house sports heart tawa ceilings with native timber joinery. All bedrooms have their own private balconies that open up to the wild bush.

Stepping away from the more rural homes, we head to Auckland City with this hyper-modern luxury apartment: The Pacifica. Feeling so modern it's almost neolithic, this chic corner apartment is the result of a inner city renaissance, bringing more people into the bustle of Auckland City to live a more fast-paced life.

Choosing the last house for this list was anything but easy. With so many waterfront properties, selecting just one was a nail-biting experience. However, a choice was made and that choice is this modern beach house located in Orewa. With an exceptionally beautiful view, this house is perfect for those looking to move to an up-and-coming location.

So, no Hobbiton homes, but we hope these will suffice! Keep your eyes peeled for our next dream house list next week.
