Much has been written about how portals have been treating their agent customers at this time of crisis in the industry with the most obvious case being the story around the SayNoToRightmove campaign led by UK agents against what they see as unfair treatment by the portal.
The latest example of agents joining forces to protest perceived unfair treatment by a property portal comes from the UAE where a group of around 150 agents have removed their combined 20,000 properties from Emirates challenger portal PropertyFinder.
Agents were unhappy that the portal had not relaxed advertising charges that are paid upfront. A strategy which was always likely to cause consternation, particularly as rivals Dubizzle and Bayut had reportedly already relaxed charges for their advertisers.
In these times of crisis, the importance of the relationships between portals and their agents has never been more important.
