Within a day of each other, Globaledge in the UK and Inman News in the US both released top 100 lists. Globaledge.co.uk has released the "top 100 most powerful property people" while InmanNew released "100 Most Influential Real Estate Leaders: 2008".
Now the striking thing is that almost no one is on both lists! So who is right?
OK - i will let you know my bias now ... i made the InmanNews list and, according to GlobalEdge, narrowly missed theirs.
The Globaledge list looks at mostly English speaking blog sites and uses the SEOMoz engine to rate the sites. According to them, "the people in this are powerful because they work for the most authoritative real estate websites in the world. The journalists and bloggers in our top 100 list have the ability to transform your online rankings or at least give them a significant boost, especially those towards the top of the list."
On the other hand, the Inman News list is "of the 100 most influential people in real estate. This list reflects the industry’s best and brightest and also includes those individuals from outside of the real estate industry whose actions influence the business of buying and selling homes." This list is made up mostly of US people.
Anyway - neither list is right. Both approach the question from a different perspective and provide an interesting perspective on influential and powerful people in parts of the property industry.
