UK market leader rightmove.co.uk is to launch an e-magazine that showcases properties with recent price reductions of 2 percent or more.
The e-magazine, called Property Deal Weekly, will be launched on 21 April 2009. It will have 45 regional editions covering the whole of the UK and be sent to rightmove.co.uk’s registered users.
rightmove.co.uk says there is no shortage of potential buyers and that enquiries to agents were up 120% on the same period last year. There's also no shortage of price reductions in the current market.
Miles Shipside, rightmove.co.uk’s commercial director, says the e-magazine may assist agents in negotiating price reductions with vendors:
“Referring them to the deals available in Property Deal Weekly may help the penny drop quicker, especially if they see they can trade up to a bargain too. We anticipate switched on agents will use the carrot of free adverts in Property Deal Weekly to help sellers reduce more often, with the promise of grabbing the attention of those elusive buyers.”
"Members will be able to use Property Deal Weekly with their Rightmoveplus tools to give them a real competitive edge and Rightmove’s extensive research with leading agents has convinced us that agents will be excited by this timely initiative that meets the needs of today’s challenging market place.”
A demo version of the e-magazine is currently available at propertydeal.co.uk. It is presented in a traditional magazine format with click-to-turn pages. Properties are grouped by price bracket, and there is also a “property deals of the week” section.
The rightmove.co.uk e-magazine is another suggestion that UK property portals are becoming serious about providing value-added market information. In February this year, REA Group owned UK portal propertyfinder.com appointed journalist and editor Nigel Lewis to cover daily news, features, advice columns, real-life content and property market analysis.
Last month rightmove.co.uk also launched the Rightmove Search Widget, a handy tool which allows those looking to buy or rent to post their property searches and results on their personal blogs, web browsers, homepages and social networking pages.
