A New York focused property portal has recently been launched through a joint venture between CBS-owned WCBS-TV and LMG digitalMedia.
cbs2rem.com says it currently offers over 25,000 listings. Its map based search covers sale listings, rental properties and new developments.
LMG digitalMedia chief executive Simon Mills told crainsnewyork.com that the website lists properties from Property Strategies Group, LMG's residential brokerage, along with those of a number of other brokerages through a partnership with the Real Estate Board of New York.
Mills also stated that the website's goal is to expand outside of New York City and into the 13 markets CBS covers across the US.
crainsnewyork.com points out that cbs2rem.com is joining an increasingly crowded market dominated by trulia.com, propertyshark.com and streeteasy.com, and that the fact that the website asks users to sign up and provide contact details may be a deterrent.
Mills responded by stating that new features, including the ability to find cheap apartments and local school information, will be added in the coming weeks to entice users.
