Adding to a string of mobile-based releases from property portals over the past week, Canada’s realtor.ca has released an application it says will allow users to access a “snapshot” of property listings wherever they are.
The mobile version of realtor.ca, the website of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), has been designed to work on BlackBerry and Windows mobile operating systems. It will allow home hunters to view property information such as price, location and agent contact details, however realtor.ca says it is not designed for extensive searching.
"mobile.realtor.ca version one was designed to be used by Realtors and consumers who are driving or walking around, see a property and want more information about it," said the CREA's director of marketing and member services, Marc Lafrance. "It was not designed to facilitate extensive searching of large areas or to search using a broad variety of criteria. It was designed to facilitate a quick reference when people see a property and want more information about that particular property right away."
realtor.ca says it sees more than 3 million unique visitors per month. The CREA represents over 96,000 real estate brokers and agents across more than 100 real estate boards and associations.
