US real estate agency chain Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC has just launched a beta version of its new website, offering a few interesting search options.
To begin with, beta.coldwellbanker.com recognises a user’s location through their IP address and suggests properties for sale in their area.
The website’s keyword search enables users to find properties with specific features such as a terrace or view of the mountains, and similar listings are also displayed in a “you may also like” list.
Listings can also be given a star rating, but this rating can only be viewed by agents and not by other users, according to inman.com.
Coldwell Banker is most excited about what it calls its “ground-breaking” BlueScape search platform, which gauges a user’s attraction to a series of images to help them find their “dream home”. Giving images a “thumbs up” or thumbs down” brings up listing results that can then be narrowed by traditional criteria such as price range and location.
“Despite its focus on hard numbers like square footage and price, real estate is also a deeply emotional process,” explained Michael Fischer, Coldwell Banker’s senior vice president of marketing. “Home buying is often driven by a gut feeling like the first time you lay eyes on a home or that vision you have in your mind’s eye of the perfect mountain view. We’ve widened the definition of real estate search to give consumers the chance to explore those intangibles.”
Coldwell Banker says the new website has more virtual tours and videos of listings where available, along with increased social networking options. The new website is currently running alongside Coldwell Banker’s old website.
