US real estate search engine trulia.com is to add rental listings within the next six months, according to a report by the New York Times. The report states that trulia.com’s rental search will debut with approximately 4.5 million listings.
“We're building multiple tools to help consumers compare, contrast and make better decisions on whether they should be renting or buying in today's market,” trulia.com spokesperson Ken Shuman is quoted as saying.
News of trulia.com’s plan to include rental properties follows zillow.com’s inclusion of rental listings at the end of 2009.
trulia.com has just dropped back to seventh place in the Hitwise rankings for US real estate websites after a month at number six. However, the search engine reported strong growth over 2009, and the addition of rental listings could see its market share begin to rise again.
