UK property portal brightmove.co.uk, which has had legal wranglings with market leader rightmove.co.uk in the past, is about to be sold.
Current owner Mike John Osborn, who established the website in 2000, admits brightmove.co.uk is in need of a complete rewrite and says he feels that an organisation with "greater marketing potential, resources and SEO would be able to promote brightmove.co.uk to a much higher ranking".
brightmove.co.uk began offering a pay-per-lead option to agents in December, and at the time said it had an average of 26,183 page views and 6,222 visits per month. Osborn tells propertyportalwatch.com he has a buyer lined up.
brightmove.co.uk ran into legal trouble in 2008 when rightmove.co.uk challenged its name, its use of the strapline "Make the right move with Brightmove", and its claim to be "the number one UK and worldwide Internet property website". brightmove.co.uk modified its logo, dropped the strapline and began describing itself as "the future No 1 Internet property website" to avoid legal action.
