A few months ago, Yahoo! launched a competition to promote interest in its "yap" (Yahoo! Application) platform. nestoria.co.uk was amongst the companies that developed their own yaps, and the UK-based property search engine has just announced that it was the overall winner.
This means that visitors to Yahoo! UK and Ireland are now presented with a link to nestoria.co.uk in the website's "recommended" menu bar, along with the option to open the link in "quick view". This launches nestoria.co.uk's yap, keeping users on the Yahoo! homepage but letting them search for property and see market information.
The yap automatically detects the user's location to present them with relevant listings. nestoria.co.uk has also made it available in Spanish, German, and Italian.
That's not all nestoria.co.uk has been up to this week. The search engine has also made changes to its search results pages with the aim of presenting house hunters with relevant content immediately.
nestoria.co.uk explains that this change will result in a drop in its page view numbers, but says this is a positive thing:
"A good search engine should be presenting relevant content to users as quickly as possible and sending them off to that content. More pageviews would indicate we’re doing a bad rather than a good job."
