Joining the growing number of property portals reporting strong visitor numbers for March is funda.nl, the top portal in the Netherlands.
According to a statement from the portal, its Google Analytics figures show it had 4.1 million unique visitors in March. "This figure is normally around 3.7 million each month," a funda.nl spokesperson explains.
funda.nl goes on to say that these visitors viewed a total of 271 million pages, and an average of 21 pages were viewed on each visit.
"The reason for the large visitor numbers is not known," says funda.nl's spokesperson. "It could be that the housing market has been a topic of conversation in relation to the economic crisis. Many people are curious about the prices of homes for sale. In addition, funda.nl believes that it is further reinforcing its market position through continued innovation and improvements to the website."
These improvements include a redesigned homepage, which has just gone live. A screenshot of the new design can been seen below:
"The new design is functional and gives a greater overview of what else funda can offer (such as new build and rented accommodation)," says funda.nl "In addition, the map function has been extended."
The portal's commercial section has also been updated to focus more on the supply of industrial units, retail spaces and catering establishments.
"funda.nl will be closely monitoring visits to these various sections over the next few weeks and months to establish whether the homepage requires further updating," the portal states.
The redesign comes just a few weeks after funda.nl announced a listing partnership with the De Telegraaf newspaper, along with a deal with Samsung to make a funda.nl widget available through the manufacturer’s Internet-enabed TV sets and its [email protected] service.
