A new niche property portal has just gone live in Australia, aiming to stand out with a focus on waterways and the coast.
watersidepropertysales.com.au has been under construction for the past 18 months, and has now launched with the help of a group of "pilot agents." The portal covers residential and commercial property on the waterfront or with water views.
"Australia and its islands have around 60,000 kilometres of coastline," says watersidepropertysales.com.au managing director Victor Paul Del Vecchio. "According to the 2007/2008 census, the largest population growths, outside of capital cities, occured along the Australian coast."
Del Vecchio explains that the new portal is using the business model of free-to-list, pay-to-upgrade, and is connected to Google's real estate search and suburbview.com. A search for all listings in the state of New South Wales returns 105 properties.
watersidepropertysales.com.au follows on from the launch of farmbuy.com, another niche Australian portal focusing on the rural property market, in November last year.
In March, farmbuy.com told propertyportalwatch.com that it was managing to attract agents and seeing satisfactory audience numbers.
Like farmbuy.com, watersidepropertysales.com.au is entering a market dominated by two major players - domain.com.au, and realestate.com.au, which has previously said it carries the listings of 95 percent of Australian agents.
