Bilingual property portal rivierapropertynetwork.com is looking to establish itself in the niche market of the French Riviera, hoping to attract agencies and developers with a flat fee of €495 per month.
rivierapropertynetwork.com was first launched in April last year. The portal is now listing over 1,200 properties and has just passed the milestone of 25,000 unique visitors per month.
"Launching a web portal in today’s difficult market was always going to be an uphill battle," says CEO Chris Maughan. "With some of the properties on the French Riviera rising to a sale price of €50 million, creating an image for agencies to list such properties and gain confidence in the market was certainly a task."
To gain traction in the French portal market, which is currently dominated by seloger.com, Maughan and his team have been turning to a number of offline advertising strategies. These have included radio campaigns, branding on smart cars and pizza boxes, and a beach barbecue for locals and tourists interested in making contact with selected agencies. The portal also offers a video section to showcase high-end listings.
It seems 2011 will see more expansion from this niche portal, which is currently looking to hire two more sales managers.
