UK news websites are currently buzzing with reports that leading UK property portal rightmove.co.uk will soon add Internet speeds to the information it includes in its listings.
telegraph.co.uk reports that rightmove.co.uk will be adding this information to its listings through a partnership with UK Internet company BT. Neither company has made an official statement about the move, but the news website quotes a source stating that broadband speeds are becoming particularly important to home buyers.
"Many people fall in love with a home only to find out it can only get really slow Internet," the source is quoted as saying. "By listing broadband speed with all the other property details buyers will be able to weed out homes that don't have high-speed access."
telegraph.co.uk adds that rightmove.co.uk will also list whether properties will be covered by BT Infinity, the company's 40 megabits per second broadband service, which is currently being rolled out across the UK.
When asked to comment on the report, a rightmove.co.uk spokesperson denied any official partnership with BT.
"As a leading UK website services like superfast broadband obviously interest us and we have recently looked into how it can benefit us, although we are not currently in any form of partnership with BT," the spokesperson told telegraph.co.uk.
rightmove.co.uk has been contacted for further clarification on the report.
