Rightmove looks into fake agency allegations

Rightmove's data quality team is going to run "a full review of the current customer" following a recent claim that an agency listing fake properties on its portal.

Estate Agent Today has received details of an allegation that an agency already banned from Rightmove, allegedly for breaching its terms and conditions, is actually being run by another company.

The accusation, passed on to Rightmove, is that the banned fake agency takes enquiries about properties on its own website - however, these properties are alleged to be dummy.  

However, the details of the customer are then passed on to a ‘real’ estate agency.

Rightmove plc is a United Kingdom-based company, which operates as a property portal. The company's principal business is the operation of the rightmove.co.uk website which provides a online property search engine.

The company's segments include Agency (for resale and lettings advertisement services), New Homes (property advertising services for new home developers and housing associations) and Other (for overseas and commercial property advertising services and non-property advertising services, including third-party and consumer services, as well as data and valuation services).
