Accommodation portal Airbnb is reportedly going to offer long-term listings for its 50 million users worldwide, writes Property Report.
Sources close to Bloomberg have said that the popular short-term rental platform has tapped McKinsey & Co to research the market potential of the prospective business model.
The research firm is also reportedly carrying out competitive analysis of Craigslist, currently the market leader in subletting with 60 million visitors a month.
Nick Papas, a spokesperson for Airbnb, declined to comment on the company’s potential to development the site into a full property portal.
“Examining different parts of the market is standard operating procedure, and we don’t have any announcements to make,” Papas said.
Airbnb has been offering subletting exclusively to its users in New Yok, although it hasn’t given the services prominent placement on the site and mobile platforms. These services also lacks basic function, Bloomberg reported.
