Co-founder of Lune Croissanterie Kate Reid has launched her own recruitment app, Supp to help meet the demand for qualified hospitality staff available on short notice.
In an interview with the Australian Financial Review, Reid said she’s struggled to find additional staff for years.
“One particular morning we were having real trouble getting staff for the week to do the exterior jobs like running the counter and making the coffee,” Ms Reid said.
“I’d tried our whole network of people and still couldn’t find someone to do the job that weekend and, while they seem like smaller roles, it was imperative to the business that we filled them.”
That’s when she decided to create the Supp app with her partner Jordan Murray.
So far they’ve raised $200,000 of seed capital from Little Creatures co-founder Adrian Fini and ANZ bank’s head of analytics and platform for international and institutional banking, Richard Schroder.
The app includes a five-star rating system for workers, an in-built algorithm that will match hospitality businesses with the workers most suited to their business and a payment system so that cafes can pay the casual workers through the app.
It’s available to download now on Google Play for $3.20.
