WorkApp, the brainchild of Brisbane-based entrepreneur Shane Wallace, has been in development over the last four years. Now Wallace believes his platform may very well shake up the job-search industry.
Wallace says WorkApp is free to download and free to use, and it can be used by job-seekers or by employers who are looking to fill a position. What makes the app stand out from others is that it provides the nearest active result to the device, and the listing can be boosted by the user.
The idea for the app, which has also had a strong launch in India, came from Wallace’s brother, who rang his brother suggesting he consider building an app which finds labour for a job site by location. Since Wallace had a business and sales background, he saw value in the idea, and began the app creation process.
“When I began I didn’t really know how long it would take, or how much it would cost – and perhaps it’s a good thing I didn’t,” said Wallace.
“But now we’re in a really good position and because the platform is automated we don’t need a lot of staff. We have a full-time development team of 15 but the platform runs itself.
“We believe we can be a global game changer, and because of the automation we can remain free, while others charge a fee,” he concluded.
WorkApp revenue revenue is raised via billboard advertising on the side of the app, much like social media platforms.
Incredibly, Mr Wallace had never downloaded an app before creating his own.
