Cambodian Portal Sees Spiking Traffic Trend

Cambodian property portal has reported what it calls a “significant increase” in both traffic and inquiries according to CEO Thomas O’Sullivan.

Cambodia has yet to feel the full force of the COVID-19 global pandemic. At the time of writing the South East Asian country had seen only 109 cases and O’Sullivan attributed the increase in traffic partly to the “the impending slowdown of economic activity” which had “prompted some developers to offer lucrative promotions to attract buyers.”

According to a statement released yesterday, the Phnom Penh based portal has seen a 20% traffic increase and a 43% increase in live-chats leading to a 22% increase in client leads since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The other reason cited for the upturn was the fact that people are staying indoors a lot more. This is perhaps reflected in a steady increase in app downloads. It remains to be seen whether those at home on their phones in the coming weeks will be window shoppers or converters.

With portals and classifieds businesses across the world hunkering down, cutting costslosing value and being forced to slash prices for clients, it is perhaps not surprising that this portal success story comes from a country yet to feel the full effects of the Coronavirus.

We’ll keep you up to date with this Cambodian case study and others in the coming weeks.
