Colombian software Acsendo makes it possible to identify top talent

During the past five years and thanks to Acsendo, a software created by Carlos Santana and his partners José Vélez and Martin Schrimpff, Colombian companies and/or organizations have been able to evaluate their employees in an efficient manner, identifying their top talent.

“When we started to understand better the world of human resources in companies, we realized that the majority of the decisions made regarding talent were very subjective,'” recalled Santana, general manager of Acsendo.

As a result, “promotions, deliveries of bonuses and salary increases were generally for those closest to the boss,” said Santana, noting that this reflection gave rise to the organizational development program created by Acsendo.

“By evaluating employees objectively, we can have objective results, which allows for the right decision making. This is convenient for the company because it can have the best collaborators, who will be motivated to be evaluated in this way and therefore encouraged to be promoted and recognized, which generates an impact on the company’s strategy, a win-win for both parties,” explained Santana.

The businessman said that the contribution of Acsendo responds to a need, not only in Colombia but in Latin America and the world. “That issue is not particular to a country and there is a world to explore. Actually, the opportunity in human resources is huge; these ‘favorites’ occur in many countries, just like in Colombia,” he noted.

According to the founder of Acsendo, the platform with which the capacities of employees are evaluated is structured according to five modules: behavioral competencies, goals, individual development plan, climate and culture/recognition.

In the development of the program, the management indicators are measured, that is, the quantified results related to the specific functions of the worker; and the perception of the environment regarding the work carried out by the collaborator that is being evaluated, according to models of competencies or established behaviors.

These competencies may include teamwork, leadership or customer orientation, but all of them always depending on the profile of each one of the evaluated ones, since each position has associated competencies.

“Then, through the degree of involvement of the whole environment is that subjectivity begins to decrease and it is no longer only the boss who evaluates. When we cross these two variables: the goals with the competences of that person, we begin to map the personnel, and we can appreciate the strengths of each one, with which they begin to identify the employees that can be promoted,” said Santana.

Steps to follow

The procedure to be followed by a company interested in applying Acsendo software is very simple, and initially contemplates a contract and the execution of a work schedule previously established, according to the needs of the client.

Each of the modules, such as the one related to skills, applied to an average company of 200 people, maybe taking a month and a half, maximum two months, from the beginning to the end, explained the manager.

For the preparation of these tests, Acsendo has two teams: one for the product aimed at medium-sized companies, composed of designers and engineers; and another for small companies, made up of those professionals who are joined by specialist psychologists.

Software for all types of companies

The software is designed for any type of company or organization and has been applied in banks, law firms, manufacturing and communications companies, among others.

Acsendo currently has more than 200 clients, of which more than 50% is located in Colombia, its main square. In Mexico, 50 companies use their services. With the exception of Nicaragua and Venezuela, the company is present in the rest of Latin America.

Ascendo operates from three countries: Colombia, Mexico, and Portugal, where engineering and marketing teams make their operation possible. He has also made an important effort to position himself through the internet, a situation that has allowed him to increase his clients.

Since the incorporation of the company, its revenues have increased significantly, year after year. In 2017, they expect to close with 2,000 million pesos in sales, compared to 1,100 million in 2016, and 650 million in 2014.

The goal of the founders of Acsendo is to continue expanding in the market. For this, they have the Sura Group as an investment partner and hope to add Mexican investment funds.

“It has helped us a lot to be entrepreneurs, it has opened many doors, mainly in investment from outside (…) that has been an incredible help”, concluded the General Manager of Acsendo.
