domain.com.au is Australia’s number two portal. According to August 2008 Nielsen NetRatings, the website had a 6 percent decrease in traffic compared to August 2007. At that time, the same Nielsen NetRatings survey reported 1.9 milion visitors to the website per month. However, a January 2009 Nielsen NetRatings Market Intelligence report put the number of unique browsers at 2.9 million for the month.

domain.com.au is one of many classifieds websites like stayz.com.au and New Zealand’s trademe.co.nz which fall under Fairfax Media’s Fairfax Digital division. Fairfax Media’s half year results for the six months ending 28 December, 2008 saw profits slide and a nett loss, but the company’s online businesses (which include domain.com.au combined with many others like drive.com.au) reported relatively good news – revenue of $135.1 million, an increase of 13.7 percent, with EBITDA of $56.4 million, an increase of 13.3 percent.
