Marketing campaigns offering incentives or freebies are common; intended to peek the interest of, and hook a potential customer. Delhi-based second-hand automobile marketplace, Droom, has introduced a very unique incentive which is both clever and safety driven.
The auto portal has been selling ISI certified helmets for Rs 9 one day a month since the beginning of the year. The retail price of the helmets is normally Rs 900, but customers are able to order them for Rs 9 on the company’s website by entering a special code. The company brands the helmets with its logos — Droom or Orange Book Value.
Over 21,000 helmets have already been sold between January and March, and as of mid April, the company has received orders for another 26,000.
Droom hopes to later cross-sell second-hand two-wheelers and four-wheelers to customers, thanks to the helmet campaign. Many people who purchased the helmet at Rs 9 in January and February have already purchased or sold previously owned two-wheelers on the Droom website.
The company currently experienced approximately 200 transactions per day and it aims for 450 deals per day by the end of 2017. The company said that last year a gross value of Rs 2,600 crore in automobiles transacted on its platform.
