dubizzle.com, a free-to-list classifieds website for the United Arab Emirates, has teamed up with Microsoft Gulf to offer users the new functionality available through Internet Explorer 9.
dubizzle.com was established in 2005 and now says it is the UAE’s number one classifieds website with over 1 million monthly visitors. The website explains it will now offer “pinning” and “jump list” features to users with IE9.
The pinning feature allows users to add dubizzle.com as an icon to their taskbar, start menu or desktop, giving them one-click access. The jump list makes common actions, such as placing an ad on the site, available with one click. In addition, the jump list allows users to store recent history of their activity on the site.
“What makes dubizzle.com different is the user experience, so anything that improves that interaction is welcomed,” says co-founder J C Butler. “Partnering with Microsoft and IE9 means we can offer an enhanced streamlined experience to users through our sites as we continue our expansion across MENA.”
At the moment, dubizzle.com has over 19,000 for sale listings and over 31,000 rental listings. While listings are free, the website generates revenue through a range of on-site advertising options.
Along with property listings, dubizzle.com also covers cars, jobs, events and reviews. The portal has apparently been gaining plenty of traffic over the past 18 months, with its last reported monthly total at 279,000 unique visitors in July 2009.
