UK online real estate agency easyProperty has removed any mention of advertising claims that reference clients getting ‘an offer in 20 weeks’, after an intervention by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Estate Agent Today reports that the 20-week claim first surfaced on Google in February as part of a sponsored result stating: “Get an Offer in 20 Weeks – easyProperty in Redditch – easyProperty.com […] Save £2,809 on Estate Agent Fees and Get Offers within 20 weeks, No Commission Fees […] Save with low fixed fees […]”.
A complainant contacted easyProperty to say they were quoted a saving of less than that stated in the ad and weren’t given an explanation as to how the advertiser would receive an offer with the 20-week period.
After being told of the reduced saving, the complainant then contacted the ASA to challenge whether the three claims regarding the 20-week offer could be substantiated.
EasyProperty allegedly removed all of the 20-week offer claims after they were contacted by the ASA.
