The store used facial coding technology to decide which Christmas presents participants should buy for their loved ones.
It’s no secret that shopping during the holiday season can be stressful, but thanks to eBay’s installation, we have scientific evidence to support this and a possible solution on how to overcome it.
According to eBay, which uses the same technology to study how the brain works while we shop for gifts, it can take just half an hour to lose motivation when browsing online.
But the classifieds portal has a solution for that.
Launched on Tuesday December 1, the store will have interactive screens which show customers a range of gift ideas in a short space of time, at the same time measuring facial expressions and how long individuals spend looking at each gift to measure their emotional response.
The process takes around five minutes and at the end the most appropriate gift option is displayed to customer based on the data supplied.
