Anthony Codling, The former CEO of startup UK portal Rummage4Property, has launched a new company that aims to give “a complete picture of the property market; one which includes an online profile for all of the UK’s 28 million homes”. The ambitious project is named Twindig and will allow homeowners to claim their home on the site, manage their property information and store documents in one place. Twindig will also allow housebuilders to build their brand by highlighting homes they have built as well as make moving day smoother for everyone by making documents available over the platform in a secure vault.

As for the value proposition for agents, as well as giving them access to data and documents, the new site aims to let them tap into the so-called passive-activation market of owners who may be considering buying or selling property. Codling cited the changing nature of home ownership and how we value our homes in light of the Covid-19 crisis as a reason behind the launch of his company:

“There’s so much potential in our properties and helping you realise this potential is what Twindig is all about...When we go back to “normal” will we see our homes for what they are really worth? If we are to value rather than simply price our homes, we need to take back control.”

Passive activation is a stated goal of several challenger portals and portal alternatives that have sprung up over the last few years and clearly a holy grail for many. It will be interesting to see if Twindig can engage enough homeowners, agents and builders to reach its goals and to see if other similar platforms spring up in other countries with a similar property market.
