Last year social media giant Facebook teased us with a new classifieds feature. Now they’ve taken things to the next level with a job listing option that allows employers to post job ads directly to their company Page. Users can then apply for those jobs via the Facebook platform.
Applications are pre-populated with a user’s Facebook data then sent to the employer via Messenger. The hope is that employers and job seekers will communicate using Facebook Messenger throughout the courting process.
According to Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s Vice President of ads and business platforms, companies were already posting jobs to their Pages. The new jobs feature simply streamlines the application and communication process.
Posting a job is free for employers, and there’s no limit to how many posts a Page can have.
The move doesn’t spell good news for companies like LinkedIn as they charge business to post job ads on their platform. And with nearly 2 billion more users than LinkedIn, Facebook is in their perfect position to reach as many employers and potential employees as possible.
The new feature is available in the US and Canada as of February 22.
