Leading British property portal Rightmove has appointed David Cox to a newly created role as its Legal & Compliance Director. The new role will be centred around helping agents stay on top of legal requirements through designing training materials and programs for Rightmove customers.
Before joining Rightmove, Cox was Chief Executive of ARLA Propertymark, the largest professional body for letting agents in the country. His extensive background working with agents to make sure they adapt to changing requirements means he is ideally suited to the role. Commenting on his appointment, Cox said:
“For most of my career I’ve been helping the property industry with compliance to ensure agents are always operating at their very best. At this critical juncture for the industry, joining Rightmove enables me to take forward this work and continue supporting the agents we serve.”
The creation of a specific role to help customer agents stay the right side of the law is something that other property portals may consider in due course as regulations around what is and isn’t permitted in estate agency become increasingly important and demarcated by governments around the world.
