Bill Ford, CEO of global growth investment firm General Atlantic, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of Axel Springer, one of Europe’s digital publishing powerhouses.
Ford has been the CEP of the US-based General Atlantic since 2007, and succeeds Professor Dr Wolf Lepenies on Axel Springer’s Board.
General Atlantic currently has a holding of around 6 percent in Axel Springer SE.
“I have known Axel Springer for some years already, and came to know the company as a joint venture partner in a number of investments in the classifieds market and more recently also as a shareholder,” said Ford.
“I am looking forward to my new role as a member of the Supervisory Board and would like to contribute to the further development of Axel Springer’s growth story.”
Dr Giuseppe Vita, Chair of the Axel Springer SE Supervisory Board, welcomed Ford and thanked the outgoing member.
“Bill Ford will enrich and internationalise our Board still further with his long years of entrepreneurial experience,” he said.
“Wolf Lepenies has been a member of the Supervisory Board for more than 12 years. Throughout this time, we have always been able to rely on his wise counsel and astute analysis. On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board and the Executive Board, I would like to sincerely thank him.”
