REA Group has announced Georg Chmiel will leave iProperty Group in September after six years of service, initially on the board and later taking over from Shaun Di Gregorio as CEO in 2014.
The move comes five months after the online property giant finalised its acquisition of iProperty Group, and marks the end of the first phase of its integration.
REA Group’s purchase of iProperty is part of its long term strategy to expand in rapidly developing regions in which the ASX-listed company holds a leading market position including Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and The Philippines.
The next phase of the transition will incorporate transferring REA’s technology and know-how to iProperty in these countries many of which are still in the early stages of developing online real estate models.
REA Group CEO Tracey Fellows says the decision was “mutual” with Chmiel agreeing to ensure a smooth transition.
“I would like to thank Georg for his contribution to the company,” Fellows says.
“He hands over a stronger team and a business well positioned for future opportunities. We wish him every success in the future.”
Chmiel adds he is proud of the company’s accomplishments over the past six years.
“I am sincerely grateful for the support I’ve received from the Board of Directors, our customers and our employees,” Chmiel says.
“The iProperty Group, under the REA Group, is well positioned and on a clear path to even greater success.”
REA Group Chief Operating Officer – International Arthur Charlaftis will continue to oversee the iProperty Group operations.
