Further results from the ‘Happiness Survey’ by propertyfinder.ae, have revealed the top three causes for complaint for Dubai residents when it comes to the community they live in.
Top of the annoyance list is ‘projects still under construction’ – meaning noise, dust and unfinished pavements are the things most city dwellers would like to see the back of.
Second in the ranking of annoyance is the ongoing problem of bad traffic congestion.
In third place is residents feeling their neighbourhood is too far from work, suggesting many feel they can’t afford to live close to the major commercial hubs – or that public transport is still a problem.
The in-depth survey, which was taken by both propertyfinder.ae site visitors and also emailed to the portal’s large consumer database, posed a number of questions about renting habits and views on living in Dubai.
“Life in almost any community has its little annoyances, but it is useful to know from this survey what problems matter the most to those living in Dubai as it highlights the issues that really need working on. It also paints a clearer picture of what buyers and renters are most likely to take into consideration when planning their next move – which is of course useful data for the real estate industry,” said Renan Bourdeau, managing director at propertyfinder.ae.
Commenting on the top three resident irritations, Mario Volpi, Head of Sales & Leasing at Cluttons said: “I agree that the problem of projects being still under construction can be a real negative as it causes noise and dirt – however these annoying byproducts of buildings being completed are necessary evils if master communities are to develop into areas that we all want to live and work in. Unfortunately, construction also contributes to the traffic congestion issue too as roads are closed for lengthy periods during this time.
“As for living far away from places of work, the good news is Dubai is improving the transport infrastructure so getting around is becoming easier, whether by car with new roads opening or by metro with the expanding network,” he added.
