India's Springworks has a new identity verification tool built into WhatsApp

Background screening and identity verification are major obstacles in hiring, requiring time, money, and resources. Most rely on agencies and submitted documents.

To weed out this pain, HR Tech platform Springworks has launched a WhatsApp-based employee verification product for users to instantly verify someone’s identity and ascertain whether it is a valid ID or fake.

Springwork’s SpringVerify, as the product is called, will help even get the criminal and court records of a user. The tool integrates with WhatsApp API and lets users share a picture of any personal identification documents such as Pan Card, or Driving Licence, Aadhaar Card or Voter ID Card.

The user can share a picture or selfie of the ID holder and the tool will match that with the picture on the ID.  It can also verify the selfie of a user and tell whether it matches with the ID or not.
