Our series of infographics ‘Top Property Portals’ brings you the market-leading real estate portals from around the world. Last week we looked at the top portals in South America, and this week we take a look at the #1 property portals in North and Central America.
As always, if you run a property portal in one of these countries and think we’ve made a mistake, get in touch and show us your numbers and we’ll be happy to make a correction…
Canada – Realtor.ca
A rarity here in that the top portal in Canada is owned and operated by the Canadian Real Estate Association and not a multinational shareholder-run organization. Is this where the agents behind OnTheMarket got their idea from?
USA – Zillow.com
We’ll be honest and admit we didn’t even look this one up. Zillow is the point of reference for property portals across the globe and has complete market dominance, so much so that it is moving sideways into iBuying.
Mexico – Vivanuncios
Leading the market in Mexico since 2016, Vivanuncios sees 20 million visitors a month. This free service is a boon for homeowners and prospective buyers in the country.
Guatemala – Olx.com.gt
Yes, we know it’s not strictly a property portal, but OLX is king of the Google SERPs in Guatemala and has way more traffic than all of the rudimentary specialist property portals in the country combined. The brand is to merge with regional player Encuentra24 soon.
Belize – point2homes.com
The agency websites seem to be very big here, with Century21 doing well in Google searches among others. Canadian run portal point2homes seems to be the top portal site in Belize beating local player belizerealestatemls.com.
Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama – Encuentra24.com
Other property sites in the Central American countries look pretty run-down in comparison to the Panamanian run Encuentra24 website. MercadoLibre and OLX have a decent presence in the region, but as Encuentra24 and OLX recently announced their Central American merger, there will be no disputing who the market leader is in these countries soon enough.
