A new app and website called Memphis Works that was recently unveiled provides a digital connection between current and future workers, employers, education and training.
The Greater Memphis Alliance for a Competitive Workforce announced the Memphis Works tool at the annual Greater Memphis Chamber Chairman’s Luncheon held at the Peabody.
“The first thing we want to accomplish is to make sure that anybody that’s genuinely looking for employment understands where the great jobs are, what it takes to get those jobs and that this app puts them in the position to have information that they too can get one of those jobs,” said Glen Fenter, president of the alliance.
“We try to outline the skill sets required for those jobs and make as many as we can accessible to them through the app,” Fenter said.
Nearly 1,000 videos, with hundreds showing Memphis workers describing their jobs, are available for viewing, said Mary Hayes, CEO of Workbay, the company that produced Memphis Works. Her firm led development in Nashville last year of an online tool called We Build Tech for the information technology industry.
