A petition on change.org started by Real Estate professionals in Malaysia has gathered nearly 10,000 signatures. The petition asks that all portals in the South East Asian country “give a levy/discount on the Subscription”.
Although not as forceful in tone as the SayNoToRightmove movement, the polite message is another example of an agent led movement to get portals to relax their subscription fees in light of the physical restrictions placed on front-line agents. Malaysia has been under MCO (Movement Control Order) since the 18th of March and at the time of writing had seen only 62 confirmed deaths attributed to the Coronavirus.
The petition is close to reaching its stated goal of signatories and it will be interesting to see whether Malaysian property portals do offer the olive branch to agents as has been seen in other markets in our Deep Dive Survey results.
