Move, Inc., the operator of Realtor.com—the second most-visited portal in the US—has acquired UpNest. UpNest operates a marketplace that connects home sellers with highly qualified local agents who compete for their business.

Realtor.com already connects home sellers with agents who can help them through their ‘ReadyConnect Concierge’ referral network. The UpNest acquisition will let Realtor.com further expand its services.

Consumers who use UpNest to submit leads receive proposals from up to five agents within 12 hours, at which point the seller can choose which agent to continue with.

David Doctorow, CEO at Realtor.com, said:

"Our open marketplace approach is all about empowering people with choices. Realtor.com helps homeowners choose how they want to find and connect with an agent, and agents and brokers can decide which methods work best for them.

"UpNest has a proven track record of successfully connecting homeowners looking to sell with the right agent for them, and we believe that its innovative model complements our existing program."

The terms of the acquisition have not been released.
