Social apartment search engine rentwiki.com has just closed a multi-million dollar financing round from Antares Capital.
A post on the rentbits.com blog explains that prior funding investments totalled US$2.43 million from internal and strategic investors including major REITs, and the investment from Antares Capital brings total funding to over $4 million.
rentwiki.com, which went nationwide in January 2009, couples a rental search with user-generated content, neighborhood reviews, and the ability for renters and locals to talk to each other.
“We have an excellent track record of investing in smart, successful businesses,” said Randy Poliner, Antares Capital partner and new addition to rentwiki.com’s board of directors. “We’re selective in the companies we invest in and they typically have very strong management teams and solid business models. rentwiki.com is no exception.”
“This funding round gives us the opportunity to invest more heavily in the traffic we need to drive more quality leads to our clients as well as expand our consumer content,” added Robert Turnbull, president of rentwiki.com.
rentwiki.com says it has access to over 5.1 million apartment listings. A recent press release explains it is one of the websites working with trulia.com on its new rentals search.
