The UK’s number 1 property portal, Rightmove, has upgraded its popular iPhone app, which allows users to view more than 1.2 million properties for sale or rent.
Mobile devices are being used more and more for property searches. Current estimates place mobile use for property searches at 15 percent and research from comScore MobiLens indicates that the number of people using online mobile phone software to view properties has risen by 63 per cent over the past 12 months.
Since its launch in August 2009, Rightmove’s iPhone app has been downloaded around 1.4 million times, prompting the company to consider upgrading its property software and developing its app for other mobile platforms.
Version 2 of the iPhone app features advertising opportunities for agents to increase exposure of their brand and properties to a mobile audience.
The app introduced Rightmove user account synching and uses GPS functionality to enhance property searches. It also features zoomable floorplan and allows users to save their searches.
The new and improved version remains free to download.
