Roberto Nascimento has left his role as CEO of Imovelweb in Brazil. Roberto was CEO of Imovelweb for just under 18 months and during that time was responsible for the significant turnaround of the business. Roberto said: “Over the last 18 months we built a completely new team, new office, new brand, new products, new website, and structured sales.”
Brazil is a highly competitive market with Imovelweb one of the three market leaders in Brazil. The other two major players are Zap Imoveis and VivaReal. While Imovelweb has delivered strong growth over the last 18 months, it appears that Imovelweb has slipped from second to third place behind the even faster growing VivaReal.
Roberto becomes the second CEO of a Navent owned company to leave their post in the last couple of months. In July, Pedro Neira left his role as the CEO of the Peruvian market leader, Adondevivir.
It is believed that the new CEO of Imovelweb will come from another Latin American country and be an employee of Navent with a background in online jobs classifieds.
Imovelweb was founded in 1999 and today has more than 150 employees nationwide. The company has operations in nine Brazilian cities – Sao Paulo (headquarters), Campinas (SP), Fortaleza (CE), Santos (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG), Curitiba (PR), Salvador (BA), Balneario Camboriu (SC) and Brasilia (DF).
Imovelweb has over 5 million unique visitors per month and a database of more than 500,000 properties.
In 2010, Imovelweb was acquired by Tiger Global/Navent (which invests in companies in Brazil as Catho, Netshoes and Peixe Urbano). Imovelweb acquired two property portals in the South of the country, Imoveiscuritiba.com.br (PR) and Imovelpro, Santa Catarina. In November 2012, the private equity firm specializing in technology, Riverwood Capital, announced a contribution of $ 30 million in Navent to accelerate expansion plans.
Simon Baker, the Chairman and Founder of Property Portal Watch, is an investor in VivaReal, one of the leading Brazilian property portals.
Brian Requarth, the CEO and Founder of VivaReal, will be a guest speaker at the Property Portal Watch Conference in Barcelona in November.
