University accommodation portal FreshRent, which advertises student rentals across 20 universities and 40 cities in the UK has announced a £126,000 spend in order to revamp its website.
The site was purchased by PropTech startup company Student Smart Group in 2016 and has undergone a major design revamp to create bespoke features and algorithms which the company hopes will set the site apart from its competition.
Company Director and former University of Lincoln student Aaron Short Says ‘FreshRent has always been a disrupter in the market. He commented: “On launch we had more properties available than our established rivals in many key UK cities; we have continued to build relationships with key agencies in order to maximise our online stock.”
The re-launched version of the site allows users to automatically search by current location; book physical viewings through the site; and a utility bill estimation tool for properties which do not include bills as standard.
Lettings agents and private landlords are now able to choose their own pricing and the subscription model has been revoked allowing agencies to set their own prices, and listing on the site is free.
Director and former University of Lincoln student Matthew Meekins said:
“We’ve added some really exciting features for users, with lots more to come over the next few months, including details leads tracking and bespoke agent / landlord dashboards”.
