Time Running Out for Agents on Rightmove Discount

Rightmove’s 75% fee discount for agents is due to expire at the end of July and with agencies around the UK still struggling with furloughed staff and low inventory numbers, crunch time is fast approaching. The Negotiator claims to have seen research suggesting that some 300 agents left Rightmove in April (the figure for a normal month is claimed to be around 60) and with the end of discounts just over the horizon and a minimum notice period of 30 days to terminate listing contracts with the portal, the acceleration of this number in the next month will be crucial in determining Rightmove’s fate.

In related news, the SayNoToRightmove campaign, which we have covered extensively in recent months, has this week said that it will present agents with a range of options to consider if Rightmove does not make concessions. The options are to be communicated to member agents next week. The movement had been criticised for not presenting a clear end goal, but according to movement leader Rob Sargent, leaving Rightmove is not viable or right for all agents whereas for others it might be the only option left to them.
