casayes.pt Claims User Base Growth

casayes.pt, a Portuguese property portal run by the Portuguese Real Estate Brokers Association (APEMIP), says its internal figures show it is receiving thousands of new visitors per day. The portal, which competes with websites such as Portuguese market leader casa.sapo.pt, was first established in June 2008. According to a statement from casayes.pt, it now lists nearly 450,000 properties from over 1,500 agents associated with the APEMIP. The portal also states that page views have increased by around 560 percent compared to this time last year, and that it now sees a daily average of 4,500 visitors. casayes.pt claims this

Google's Street View has just been expanded to cover more than 95 percent of UK roads. The move has been welcomed by zoopla.co.uk and s1homes.com, both of which are emphasising the benefits for their users. Rumours emanating out of Sydney today indicate that Google is aggressively looking to hire a field sales team to target the Sydney real estate market. Sources said that Google had approached a number of sales people from domain.com.au in an effort to hire them as field sales people for the Google real estate initiative. Property search engine Nestoria has recently entered into three white-label partnerships in Spain, Germany, and the UK. ziprealty.com Reports Growth in 2009

ziprealty.com, a US-based online brokerage, has posted full year revenue of US$123.1 million for 2009, which its says represents its 11th consecutive year of revenue growth. The number of closed transactions was up 46.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to a year earlier at a total of 6,355. Q4 revenue was also up to $33.9 million, which is a 35.4 percent year-on-year increase. Move Inc's annual report has shed light on why the company registered another drop in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2009, and warns there could be more tough times to come. Move, which runs top US real estate website realtor.com, explains that its revenue decreased by US$30.1 million - 12 percent - to $212.0 million over 2009, compared to $242.1 million in 2008. Chicago brokerage firm Baird & Warner have announced the addition of a foreclosures search option to their homepage, claiming it has had a major impact on website traffic. Visitors to bairdwarner.com can now choose to search for foreclosures in their area and in other markets, refining results by criteria such as price, house size, and schools. zillow.com Defends Zestimates

zillow.com's home valuations, known as Zestimates, have come under fire in a study published in The Appraisal Journal's Winter 2010 issue. The study analysed 2006 data for 2,045 properties in Arlington, Texas to conclude that zillow.com's estimates overvalue property by 10 percent compared to the sale price. Three More Mobile Offerings

Three more websites have launched mobile-based offerings over the past few days in an effort to attract property hunters on the move. To begin with, global classifieds portal Locanto, which expanded to 10 new countries in early February, has launched a beta version of its mobile website. Locanto, which currently sees 4 million unique visitors per month, says the new mobile version will provide access to listings from 38 countries and over 1,000 major cities.
