Ride sharing app Uber recorded a whopping 15M rides globally over New Year’s Eve, smashing their 2013 record by 200,000 rides.
The company doubled its numbers in the New Year’s Eve 75 times in just three years. This indicates the rapid growth of its business, which made it the easiest transportation service in many cities of the world, especially where mobility is difficult whether by car or public transportation.
The strong growth this year is a continuation of the huge upsurge of the recent years. After extending 200,000 trips in 2013’s New Year’s Eve, the figure jumped ten times the following year with two million trips, then to five million trips in 2015, finally reaching 15 million in 2016.
With the company’s transformation into the main mean of transportation for those who celebrate New Year’s, Uber’s tariff and the availability of their service become a hot topic for discussion on the means of social communication.
The company has published a special statement on its website two days before New Year’s Eve to inform its clientele of the required procedures and asking them to determine their destinations in advance to avoid crowds or emergency changes in prices during the night of the 31st.
